MacKay

MacKay was not a planned stop.  I took off out of Airlie Beach hoping to make the Percy Island.  But about 30 miles from the Percy's I found myself in 3 meter seas and 30 knot winds on the nose.  Realizing that I was not going to make it there anytime in the near future I turned around and retreated to MacKay's harbour.  That evening, the met. office posted a small craft warning for the Queensland coast all the way down to Brisbane.  It stayed in effect for almost a week.  I got to catch up on some movies and met a number of very friendly people at the MacKay Yacht Club.  Also learned how to tie up the boat to fore and aft pilings single handed, not easy in high winds.  After 6 days I was finally able to move on.
